The U Choose Awards is an independent student-led marketing research project, conducted by members of the University of West Florida’s (UWF) American Marketing Association (AMA), under the supervision of Dr. James Mead, associate professor of marketing in the College of Business.
The U Choose Awards measures the brand equity of businesses and organizations in the Pensacola area, based on surveys of UWF students. An organization’s brand equity represents the goodwill and reputation it has earned from positive customer interactions. Organizations with high levels of brand equity tend to offer excellent product/service experiences to their customers. The results of U Choose Awards recognize the businesses and organizations who have successfully delivered exceptional value to the UWF student community. To determine our U Choose Awards winners, we split our research into three phases that starts with data collection and ends with analysis and achievements. Below are the three phases in detail.
To Begin this process, we have a survey that is open during the Fall semester. Students suggest their favorite local businesses. If a business has thirty students vote for it, then the business will enter Phase Two.
In the Spring semester, we host a second survey where the businesses from Phase #1 will compete against one another. Once this data is collected, businesses are ranked based on the results from UWF students.
We start by analyzing the data and create our categories. We will then contact the winners and schedule photo opportunities with these businesses in celebration of their established brand equity.
